Cheap windshield repair tools equals inferior rock chip repairs! One of the most important factors when repairing a windshield repair is to make sure you remove all the air from the break. This is done during the vacuum cycle of the repair. Vacuum is measured in inches of mercury 29-30 is a perfect vacuum. Our windshield repair injectors pull a perfect vacuum. Some of our competitors use cheap plactic injectors that will pull a vacuum of around 5 to 10 inches of mercury. The result is poor air evacuation resulting in black air pockets left in the repair. More air left in the damage equals weak windshield repairs.
Flexing a windshield repair
Sometimes when you get a stone break in your windshield there could be more damage than what appears. When I examine a repair I always gently flex the glass with a probe. Alot of times the cracks that might have not been visible will show up, then I make sure they all get filled with resin. If you leave one crack unfilled you might as well have not done the repair at all because it still has the potential of spreading further.

In St. Louis, most all major insurance companies will waive your deductable and pay for rock chip repairs. The only exceptions are State Farm and AAA (Triple A). These two insurance companies will only pay if your have a zero deductable on your comprehensive part of your policy. In the event of auto glass replacement your deductable would come into play. Example would be if you have a 100 dollar deductable on your comprehensive part of your policy, you would be responsible for the first 100 and your insurance company would pay rest.
